Seattle Guided Fishing Trips FAQ

Are you planning to go on fishing trips with your family or friends? Let our experienced, skilled fishing guides at All Rivers & Saltwater Charters help plan your adventure. You can expect to see and potentially catch salmon, tuna, steelhead, lingcod, crab and halibut

The best locations to catch fish depend on the month of the year. We can take you to the Columbia River, Westport and San Juan Islands, Seattle area rivers, Olympic Peninsula rivers, Puget Sound, and other locations.

What’s Included in the Fishing Charter?

Charter fishing usually lasts 6 to 10 hours. We provide all gear, bait, tackle, fuel, and guides. Our rates also include:

  • Modern fishing boats
  • High-quality Okuma rods and reels
  • Bait and tackle
  • A licensed guide or captain

We recommend wearing appropriate clothing and bringing a sack lunch and drinks. To help protect your eyes, bring polarized sunglasses for your river fishing trip.

What Kind of Fish Will You Catch?

Expect to catch lingcod and rockfish when fishing between March 9 and July 13. Ocean halibut and deepwater lingcod are pretty popular in May and even June. Our guides can also take you to the Columbia and Cowlitz Rivers to catch spring chinook salmon between March 15 and April 15. Pink salmon, chinook, coho salmon, and tuna are also quite popular in the summer. If you book a trip between September and November, our guides can take you to Humptulips River to catch king and coho salmon. You can also catch salmon and steelhead during winter.

If you plan to catch albacore tuna between July and October, we can help you achieve this with our 29′ and 42′ Defiance boats. This is a one-day offshore fishing trip, and our large boats feature an additional covered outside seating area that can accommodate six anglers. However, we require prior fishing experience for this hardcore fishing trip, which can last 8-10 hours.  We’ll depart for Westport, Washington, for this trip.

How Many People Can Go on a Fishing Charter?

For saltwater ocean trips, our 29′ and 42′ Defiance Pilothouse can accommodate six anglers. Our 29′ Defiance boats feature bench seating, twin outboards, and a sit-down head or bucket, and our 42′ Defiance boats are equipped with suspension seating, triple outboards, and a Seakeeper Gyro-stabilizer. The latter provides a stable fishing platform, benefiting those likely to get seasick.

Our 20′-23′ jet boats for river trips can accommodate three to six anglers. These boats are equipped with a jet pump and feature open decks. On our 16′ drift boats, we can only accommodate two to three anglers. Book the latter if you prefer a more private experience when fishing.

4. Will Other Groups Be on the Charter?

Other groups will be with you when you book a larger boat. Our guides ensure you all have the best experience fishing in Washington. We do offer private charters and have smaller boats for small groups. However, our small fishing boats are for coastal streams only. Contact us so we can help you make an informed decision on which fishing charter to book.

5. Are Guided Fishing Trips Family-Friendly?

At All Rivers & Saltwater Charters, we offer fully furnished fishing charters for families or groups. Our licensed fishing guides have years of experience in the waters of western Washington State and outside the Seattle area. We have small boats ideal for coastal streams, and our bigger boats work well in open ocean or larger rivers. We also provide trips for first-timers and experienced anglers. So yes, our fishing trips are family-friendly.

6. Will I Need to Purchase a Fishing License?

Yes, we require all anglers aged 15 and up to purchase a fishing license, and you can purchase them through us for added convenience. We offer free fishing licenses when you book a private party of six on our Defiance boats.

If you want to catch rockfish and lingcod between March and July, our fishing charters are available 7 days a week. For those who want to catch a coho salmon or ocean chinook, book a fishing charter any day of the week from June until September. Contact us for the exact dates. Our Puget Sound salmon fishing lasts about 6 hours for the morning trip and about 4 hours if you book an afternoon trip. River fishing usually lasts 6-8 hours. Contact us for more details about our fishing trips or schedules.

7. Do I Need to Supply My Own Gear?

The good news is that you don’t need to supply your own gear when going fishing with us. All gear is included in our rates. Whether you want to go fishing in the San Juan Islands or Seattle, expect durable and high-quality boats and premium fishing gear to help you improve your skills. The only items you need are your licenses, appropriate clothing, and lunch.

8. What Is the Cancellation Policy?

Once you book a fishing charter with us, the party leader will receive an email confirmation with details about the trip. Note that only the party leader should do the check-in. We do allow postponing the trip to a later date during bad weather. Only the captain can postpone the trip. Deposits are not refundable within 45 days of your trip unless we can book the day with another party. If you cancel within a month and we can’t book the day, we do require you to pay for the total cost of your trip. Also, you may be charged if you don’t show up for the fishing trip. We recommend reading the confirmation email for instructions on your fishing trip.
